VIETNAMESE DAY!

On December 16, 2015, our academy featured another interesting country. Can you guess which country it is this time? It’s not really that difficult to guess. Just by looking at the traditional clothing this pretty student is wearing, there’s no doubt we’re talking about VIETNAM!

Led by our IELTS student from Vietnam, Jeniffer, the presentation went on smoothly as she disscussed some general information about Vietnam, namely the flag, language, music, and traditional dance.

Shortly after that, Kevin, our Vietnamese marketing manager, took over to talk about the unique festivals and games that the Vietnamese people are fond of.

 Everybody got even more fired up when Kevin started discussing about traditional Vietnamese food. “Nem”, “cha com”, “phong tom” cake, you name it! We can really say that Vietnamese cuisine is among the best in the world! During this time, the hosts offered the students some local Vietnamese tea and sweet lotus seeds and they loved it!

In this part of the presentation, Jeniffer showed everybody how to make “buffalo puppets” made of leaves, a common past time for both Vietnamese kids and adults. The best part is, the students got to experience making it by themselves! Teacher Lucas was there to join, too!

We can all see that the presentation was a success. Everybody learned a lot about how culturally diverse this country is, knowing that there are various ethnic groups that contribute to its uniqueness. A perfect combination of Asia and a noticeable touch of the West, Vietnam definitely is one of the most exciting places to visit!

But hold on, we’re not done yet! One of the best ways to get to know a country is through food, and there is NO WAY this cultural presentation review will finish without it!

Behind the scenes and before the presentation started, Kevin, teacher Feodda, Jeniffer, and her father, Hong Chuyen, who was also a student here studying General English, started preparing the food as soon as the last class had finished.  They looked like a perfect team! While Jeniffer and Kevin were preparing the Vietnamese spring rolls at the cafeteria, Chuyen was the main man for frying!

Never before have we seen such a good tandem between father and daughter! We can really see that the students enjoy the event. The smiles say it all!

We would like to thank Jeniffer, Kevin, and of course Mr. Hong Chuyen for giving us a chance to experience Vietnam, its culture, its flavors, its beats and rhythms, and most of all, its people.

 

GENIUS ENGLISH CRISTMAS PARTY 2015

Christmas are celebrated every 25th day of December. It is the season of love, fun, greetings and gifts. Schools, Companies, Government offices and any other establishments are also having their Christmas party. Everyone is juiced up for Christmas. Last Saturday December 19, 2015, Genius English Proficiency Academy had their Christmas Party. But one week before the party staffs and teachers are giving gifts for each of their Manito/Manita something soft, hard, long and sweet.

Teacher Beth was exicted to opened her “something red” gift from her manita/manito .

Until the Christmas party day came. Everybody came to the party prepared and well-dressed according to their team color, red, blue, green, silver and gold. Also Santa Claus visited Genius Christmas Party.

The party started with the dinner. After the dinner, presentations followed. 1st presenter was the red team wearing Santa Claus hat.

The presentation was started with a jolly performance. Well done! Let’s see who’s next. Oh! The next presenter was the gold team, with the goldy props and ribbon tight on their head . Well ready huh?

Hmm. 3rd is the silver team with the silver ribbon tight on their wrist. Sang the song with a heart. Hmm.

And last but not the least presenter, is the green team.All team were doing good. Superb job! But before the judging time, let us play some  games. The game was called Calamansi Dance. It's a funny game, where a pair must not let the calamansi fall into the ground without using hands.

 And the winner of our Calamansi dance, are The couple and Mr. Mark and Miss Tataina. It’s a tie! they received price from Santa Claus

After the game, there was another presentation. Another presentation? Wow! Surprising huh? All I know is that those team presentations only.

Well, I bet it was a surprise presentation. Superb performance! Well done teachers. You really surprised us!

It’s judging time. Who do you think who will win? Its team red, gold, silver and green? (Drum rolls,) The winner is (Drum rolls) SILVER TEAM! Congrats silver team! They recieved price from Santa Claus.

After announcing the winner, there was a toss led by our Genius Academic head, Ms. Jen who gave an inspiring message to everyone.

Toss for many years to cheers for Genius family!  After hearing that inspiring message, next was giving out of gifts to each Manito / Manita. The most awaited part of the party.Everyone excited to know who he/she really was. It started by Miss Tatiana and follows.

After that giving giving out of gifts, our very own Genius Miss Tatiana gave a short message to everyone that ignites the night.

The Christmas party ended of giving Christmas presents by Miss Tatiana to her all employees.

 Thank you Miss Tatiana for the Christmas Presents. To wrap it all, Genius Christmas Party was indeed full of fun and everyone were feeling blessed to be part of the Genius English Family for this year 2015. More years to cheers for Genius English Family ! Merry Christmas Everyone.
