DAY OF ARABIAN CULTURE

Genius English Proficiency Academy continues the Nationality Day activity or sharing culture to another culture where students could take pride in where they came from and shows off to everyone what they have in their countries.
Now the first country featured for this year 2016 was ‘Arabian Day’. They presented a video contained culture and world-famous tourist destinations from the places of KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Some featured places in the video were Egypt, Mecca, Dubai, Qatar, Oman and etc. The Dubai is a business hub for commerce tourism and trade. You will see their Dubai Metro-connecting airport, convention center and hotels. Oman has its nature in its pristine splendor.  During the presentation, they wore their traditional clothes.

"ARABIAN DAY!"

A week after Russian Day, Genius English Proficiency Academy featured another country on the spotlight. On the 18th day of November (Wednesday), our Arabian student Mohammed Hlabi, led by our Arabian Marketing Manager, Mark, shared some interesting bits of Arabian culture, food, art, and language. This impressive presentation was also made special because our very own Miss Tatiana joined in to share her insights.

Learning about cultures from people of different nationalities is one of the most wonderful experiences a person can have. This experience can only be gained in a place that promotes multicultural relations. No other academy can provide that level of experience but Genius English Proficiency Academy!

"RUSSIAN DAY!"

Genius English Proficiency Acedemy has started another tradition to strengthen the relationship among different nationalities! In the month of November, we featured three countries: Russia, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Japan. On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, the spotlight was on Russia. The lively presentation was hosted by our very own Russian Marketing Manager, Ms. Kate, along with our Russian student, Victor, and of course with the help of Miss Natalia. They did a brief discussion about their country's history, culture, and world famous tourist destinations. Also, they exhibited Russia's traditional clothes, and more importantly, they prepared a sample of one of their country's local food! Yum!

We can see in the pictures that the students surely enjoyed this treat. Through this, everybody in the academy is now closer than ever. Hopefully, this presentation inspired them into visiting this fascinating country, and gave them a deeper understanding about their culture.

"TEACHER TRAINING!"

It's another day for the Genius teachers to refresh, relearn, discover, and share their knowledge and experiences with one another. This time, things became a little more intense! And by intense, we mean more detailed and thorough discussions about certain topics regarding grammar lessons and how to deliver them effectively, common problems students have with grammar, and similar matters. And of course the pizza, cakes, and drinks also fit the description (more on that later :D).

To kick start the event, Teacher Sarah delivered a very thorough discussion about verb tenses and common difficulties the learners encounter along the way.

Other teachers were also welcome to stand in front and add some more useful insights. Here we can see Teacher Israel imparting his point of view about students while Teacher Jill is taking a video coverage on what's taking place.

And to our surprise, one of our beloved Arabian students marched in with a care package! Three huge boxes of cakes with some refreshments arrived. Zaid was very generous to provide us with enough sugary fuel to keep us going! Thank you very much, Zaid!

After the short break, Teacher Marly took over to talk about passive and active voice and the different forms of conditionals.

Unbelievably, the whole training session passed by so quickly. BUT NOT AS QUICKLY AS THE PIZZA! :D
To top that off, Teacher Feodda brought a special treat for everybody! Her home made "buko pandan" was the highlight of the feast.

To most people, Saturdays are usually a time for them to relax and not think about work, but Genius teachers always look forward to the next Saturday they can get together, learn, share and have fun!
