Genius English Graduation Ceremony: Beyond to what I Expect

For one thing I thought no doubt like it would be similar to an ordinary Graduation Ceremony like how it generally would be. The planning, giving of certificates, they all appear to be ordinary at first. But I was wrong. As I saw, it is so different. The graduation was begun by an appreciated message by the host and it was trailed by a presentation.

Click Here for the video Presentation,of one of the Graduate

As it proceeded with, the host read some instructor’s remarks each of the graduating students. The host let the group of the audience to think about whom she is discussed. After that minute, there’s a slide show presentation for every graduate students. As a first starter, I feel so as amazed! The program proceeds with an English song number from staffs and from other graduate students.

Sophia from Russia Plays a violin.

Sophia and Sasha sing My Heart Will Go On.

Genius Teacher Jill, Teacher Cholo(plays guitar) & IT Staff John(sing) Presents a song number dedicated for the graduates.

After the presentation number, the host read again a few remarks for the graduate students, another slide show was played. The graduation ends up with the distribution of certificates.  The graduate students were given time to give their message.

It is so nice to see students with a smile after witnessing the ceremony. Congratulations students. Keep it up!

On the second day of preparation for Halloween (October 29, 2015), we can really see the teachers maximizing their efforts in making the place look spooky and exciting!

The welcome signs look great teachers! Good job! Oh, and I like the adorable owl!

It looks like Teacher Eppie is having some serious cleaning problems. Also, Teacher Jane appears satisfied in her spider cave and Teacher Feodda is having  a little potion party with a witch. What's this? Offerings to the Halloween Goddess? Look! I can see Teacher Blanche through the glass window being attacked by a bunch of Jack-O-Lanterns! Uhm, Ladies, you can clean that up after Halloween, don't worry.

Ghosts! Spiders! Reapers! Jack-O-Lanterns! Skulls! Bats! More ghosts!

And what's a Halloween party without a witch on a broomstick? Oh, these look fantastic. I think this will be a very memorable Halloween for everybody, knowing that this will be the very first Genius English Halloween party! Oh, and I almost forgot, GIANT TIM BURTON STYLE DOOR! :D

World Teacher's Day!

Last Monday, everybody celebrated World Teacher’s Day. All schools and universities around the world rejoiced to honor the people behind every successful person’s achievements. Of course, the Genius teachers hopped on the jolly train.

The ever-willing teachers prepared for this special day by cutting out colorful letters and turning them into stunning flaglets that add to the already festive mood. On top of that, boxes and boxes of pizza arrived on the scene. And what’s a celebration without cake? A big fat moist chocolate cake decorated with candy flowers and a message made of icing that says “HAPPY TEACHER’S DAY!” warmed their hearts (and filled their bellies).

It was a memorable day for the genius teachers indeed. It’s not easy being a teacher and I believe they deserve a special day on the calendar!

"Help yourself!"

"Help yourself!"

It's time for your weekly dose of PHRASE FACTS! For work, leisure,

travel, or just a plain conversation over a hot cup of coffee, we will

feature phrases and expressions that will surely help you develop your

vocabulary!

For this week's Phrase Facts, the spotlight is on the expression "help yourself".

You might say you can easily guess the phrase's meaning

by simply looking at it word for word. Basing on that, you can say

"Since nobody is around to help you, only you can help yourself", right? WRONG!

Actually, we use the expression "help yourself" when people ask us for something

and we let them have it. For example:

(Ozzy and Dio are at the cafeteria having lunch.)

Ozzy: Hey, Dio. Your lunch looks very appetizing. What is that?

Dio: Oh, this is Mom's special lasagna.

Ozzy: Can I have some?

Dio: Sure! Here, help yourself.

We can see in the dialogue that Ozzy is willingly offering Dio his lunch. In some cases,

we also use this expression when people ask permission from you to do something,

and you allow them to. For example:

(Bart and Lisa are at the living room practicing saxophone.)

Lisa: You should learn to breathe properly when playing the saxophone, Bart.

Bart: Okay, I understand. I want to be better at playing the saxophone

but I don't have one. May I practice on your saxophone until dad buys

         me my own?

Lisa: Of course, Bart. Help yourself.

In this dialogue Lisa doesn't mind if Bart practices on her saxophone.

"Help yourself" isn't too complicated to understand. When somebody says "help yourself"

after you asked them for a slice of that cheesy tuna pizza, you SHOULDN'T

literally help yourself by making your left hand assist your right hand. Think about it.

Until next time!
